Photophilanthropy; Christian Aid And Pentecost @ Priory Church Leominster 2013

Right at the end of Christian Aid week it's time for Pentecost celebrations at the Priory Church in Leominster.

This exhibition is called "Moving Pictures", it is about the work of Christian Aid's partner Culture And Free Thought Association in the Gaza Strip. CTFA runs community activities in Khan Younis refugee camp in the Gaza Strip. This exhibition is a record of the children by the children of the children using drama productions and photography to raise awareness of their campaign against child lablour. many of these pictures were taken by 11/12 year olds and they are amazing.

These bottles will be filled with messages from church goers, they reflect the child in the photograph who works in the rubbish dumps collecting plastic bottles to sell. He carries the bottles he collects by tying them to his trousers with string as has been done on the board.

#herefordcuts

When he arrived at Hereford Council Offices at Brockington in Hereford today former Liberal Democrat Councillor Terry Jones said "Do you realise the argument is not going to be on the agenda. They have made the decision in secret!"
Protesters from UNISON including the Book Start Bear, had gathered outside the council’s Brockington HQ this afternoon and heard that the meeting would decide “the society Herefordshire wants to be”. A cabinet debate was expected to approve the principle of the proposed cuts and send that approval to the full council meeting next Friday as a recommendation for debate. Instead, a decision taken behind the scenes at Brockington this morning now leaves that approval of principle entirely in the hands of the full council, with the Tories holding a majority of one.
UNISON regional leader Steve Akers told protestors at Brockington of plans to rally and petition against the cuts in High Town, Hereford, this Saturday and further protest at a full council meeting on Friday. He commented in an address to UNISON members "Everything is up for grabs...we need to show the council that services are valuable to the county...we need to have a blossoming of protest across Herefordshire."
This correspondent has also been informed by an anonymous source that Herefordshire Council also has plans to cut 350 jobs from the Herefordshire Education Department in August this year.
